A few Boulder-area residents got an interesting start to their morning today when they came out of their home to find a 300-pound bear stuck inside an SUV in their driveway.
Wynn Waggoner said her husband Doug went outside around 9:15 a.m. to drive into town from their house in the 7400 block of Flagstaff Road when he noticed one of the cars parked in the driveway was shaking violently.
"He comes running in and said, "There's a bear in the car!" Waggoner said.
Sure enough, an adult bear was stuck in a Kia Sportage that belongs to a friend who was keeping the SUV at the Waggoners' house while visiting Florida. The Waggoners and their roommate, Meryle Fischer, tried to use a rope to pull open one of the doors from a safe distance, but the door turned out to be locked.
