Health care in this country is indeed primarily a for-profit business. Atop this mangy dog of a system sit hundreds of blood-sucking fleas, lice, and mites in the form of health insurance companies. United Healthcare and United Health Group are prime examples of such parasites. However, the article is about the acquisition of Psychiatric Solutions Inc. by Universal Health Services, Inc., a self described health services management company that specializes in "healthcare properties" such as hospitals, behavioral health facilities, and ambulatory care centers. This is not to suggest that Universal Health Services is not every bit as predatory as United Healthcare. No doubt each has its own greedy executives and questionable practices, and would just as soon not take the blame for the actions of the other. They must both keep entire legal firms on retainer and very, very busy.

I think it would be a great thing if all people would refuse to buy all insurance and give ourselves a bailout.
